Hiking Kungsleden, Sweden
Kungsleden is one of the world's best hiking trails. Deep precipices line lush mountain moors, and rippling mountain streams become roaring rapids.
Sweden boasts one of the world’s premier hiking trails- Kungsleden, a spectacular 270-mile stretch of terrain. While trekking its entirety requires quite a commitment, various stretches of the trail can be enjoyed for more manageable hikes.
It is said that hiking in Kungsleden, also known as The King's Trail, is about as close as you can get to a backpacker’s paradise. The northern sections of Kungsleden are dotted with comfortable huts about a day’s walk apart, a fact that makes it easy to go light and fast or, if you have the time, at a more leisurely pace. Another fascinating draw is that you can set up camp just about anywhere- next to a little glacier up the side valley, down by that tundra pond, or beside the roaring rivers.
"SPRING & AUTUMN ARE GREAT AND CAN BE REGARDED AS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT SWEDEN, SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU CAN ENJOY GOOD WEATHER, BUT AVOID THE CROWDS, AND STILL EXPERIENCE ALMOST EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE MIDNIGHT SUN AND THE NORTHERN LIGHTS."
– Alex Waltner - Swedish Nomad, Best Times to Visit Sweden
